Maintaining Appearances (Every Thread Goes Through My Heart)

Quickly, and to say I did have something to share on a Wednesday, I’m going to mention I’m trying to fall asleep by listening to The Tallest Man on Earth. Most of my friends are the tastemaker sort (and that’s why I like them), so I’m probably not breaking any news here, but the album is Shallow Graves, and the song I’m loving is “The Sparrow and the Medicine.” It’s folky and romantic, spare picking and poetic fairy tale verse.

Someday I’ll tell a pretty gal “I want to be your medicine/ I want to feed the sparrow in your heart,” and hopefully she won’t have any idea what I’m on about and be impressed by the artful way I express myself. And then maybe I’ll win the lotto.

I’ve also been listening to a lot of The National. The Virginia EP and Boxer.

I’d like to be brand new to some lady, and we could sit in the hallway, sharing a pair of white headphones and waiting to be called inside the warm, wood-paneled room. We’re in mono; she and I, our voices sound the same no matter how you listen.

Why does my comment look dirty–I’m…why did the computer decide that for me?!

Pretty, pretty song…I like the bluegrassiness of it all–have you ever actually seen a blue blade of grass?

I said I don't know how to live my life, so don't take anything you might find on these pages too seriously. I should probably mention I stole the blog's title from the song "Panthers" by Wilco. I hope you enjoy your stay here. We are out of time.
